About Me……

My name is Amy Nugent and I am hearing impaired. (Gosh that sounds a lot like an opening for a’12-step’ program!) 🙂 I am happily married to an awesome guy. I am a mom, and though on the young side for it, I am also a grandmother, though my precious boy calls me ‘Nana’ (one of the sweetest words I have ever heard!) 🙂 I work full time and have a busy life filled with family and friends; am active in my church, training for a marathon, and just living. I am nobody special, just an ordinary woman living an ordinary life who also happens to have been using hearing aids for over twelve years now. They definitely have improved my quality of life. My loss started out as mild to moderate, and over the years shifted to moderate to now a couple frequencies are edging towards severe. I have included my current status below as well as an image showing the change over time.

My good friend, Jenny, is the one who encouraged me to start this blog. Truly, it wouldn’t have occurred to me otherwise. We’ll see how it goes I guess. 🙂 My hope is that some of what I have to say will be an encouragement to my readers. Or perhaps provide some previously unknown information about living with mild to moderate hearing loss. Maybe it will help that reluctant person in your circle of family and friends to seriously consider getting some aids and really reengaging with their life and their world.
